Underpinning

Sometimes existing foundations are built on weak soil or damaged by subsidence. In this instance underpinning is required to support the building onto the correct soil or rock formation. This can be done with:

TRADITIONAL MASS CONCRETE UNDERPINNING, PILED UNDERPINNING, GROUND STABILISATION WITH INJECTED GROUT OR GEO POLYMER.

BDS provide a full underpinning design and inspection service and can procure underpinning contractors to perform the installation. BDS produce drawings, calculations and underpinning schedules for this service. BDS may require a Geotechnical Investigation.

Wall Bowing

This occurs from loss of lateral restraint between a masonry wall and structural members or restraints such as: purlins, joists, beams, slabs, piers and wall ties. Bowing is irreversible and requires inspection and repair in order to discharge a condition of lending from a bank to complete a property sale. Often a Chartered Engineer is required to issue rectification details for inspection after installation.
